Counselling

Counselling (also known as talking therapy) offers a safe, confidential space for you to talk about anything that is on your mind.  This could be thoughts, feelings, memories, or a combination of all of these. It is a process guided by trained professionals to help you process difficult emotions, seek clarity, gain new perspectives, learn about yourself, and achieve personal growth.

Counselling is thought to be most effective when sessions are held on a weekly basis. I typically offer weekly sessions, at the same date and time each week, but please let me know if you require sessions outside of this structure.

Each counselling session is 50 minutes long.

My fee is £50 per counselling session. This is payable in advance each week prior to the session taking place. Concessionary rates may be available - please contact me for more details.

Unlike the NHS, which offers a limited number of sessions, I offer open-ended therapy, meaning that there is no strict limit on the number of sessions you can have with me. We will work together to find a number that is right for you.

My most common availability is during weekday evenings. However, if you require counselling outside of these times, please do still get in touch!

I offer online counselling sessions, so I can offer you help in the comfort of your own home (or any other private and confidential space of your choosing). This is done via Zoom. Face to face sessions may also be possible near Dartford, Kent - please contact me for further details.

There are many different reasons why people seek counselling. Over the course of my counselling career, I have worked with different issues and emotions such as:

  • self-esteem
  • relationship issues
  • depression
  • anxiety
  • overwhelm
  • issues with control
  • feelings of shame
  • guilt
  • anger
  • frustration
  • fear
  • “people-pleasing”
  • not feeling “good enough”
  • “finding a voice”
  • setting boundaries
  • trust issues
  • sadness
  • grief
  • trauma
  • pregnancy
  • motherhood
  • severe pregnancy sickness (Hyperemesis Gravidarum)
  • miscarriage
  • abortion
  • sexual issues
  • medical issues
  • being a carer
  • disability
  • neurodiversity
  • job loss
  • faith
  • sexuality
  • attraction
  • identity
  • divorce and relationship breakdown
  • attachment issues
  • fear of the “unknown”
  • and more...

I am BACP-registered. This means I belong to a professional body called the BACP (British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy). I adhere to something called the BACP Ethical Framework, which means I use this framework to assist me in working ethically and safely.  I am a qualified counsellor who is a member of BACP (which means I can use the credentials: MBACP after my name). If you would like to know more about the BACP Ethical Framework, you can see this here: https://www.bacp.co.uk/events-and-resources/ethics-and-standards/ethical-framework-for-the-counselling-professions/

I am trained to work intergratively. This means that I can draw on several different theories and approaches in our sessions together, and I tailor the session to you. In this way, we can work flexibly to find the best way for you. Sometimes we might talk about the past to discover how you came to be the person that you are today. Sometimes we will look at the present – what is going on for you right now? And sometimes we will look at creating goals for the future, and breaking these down to be more manageable. The beauty in the way that I work is that it is completely centred around you and what you bring to the sessions, and the ways in which you are comfortable working with me. Some of the approaches I may use include person-centred, psychodynamic, CBT, or other.

You can contact me via email (see my contact page for further details). I will respond to you as soon as possible. The first step would be to arrange a free initial phone call. This is not a counselling session. More like an information gathering session (for the both of us!). During the call, you can ask me any questions you have about my counselling and therapy services, and I would ask you some questions to gain a better understanding of what you're looking for. I would also do something called an "assessment". This is not a test! It is simply a few questions I ask to gather as much information as I can, in order for me to assess whether I would be the right counsellor for you. This is also the opportunity for you to see if you would want to work with me as well.

If you think I could be the counsellor for you, please do get in touch.
